Teams Raise Funds for Project Broken Wheel

By March 23, 2022Rhode Island, Top News

Bally’s Twin River Casino in Lincoln hosted a charitable bocce tournament to raise funds for local nonprofit organization, Project Broken Wheel, on Feb. 16. During the inaugural Bocce for Bikes event, held at Jerry Longo’s Meatballs and Martinis in collaboration with MS Walker of Rhode Island, teams of two were invited to compete against each other for prizes in categories including highest score, lowest score, best team outfits, best and worst bocce throw and overall team score. Teams received a complimentary three-course dinner and cocktails featuring spirits from sponsors Lucas Bols, Larceny Bourbon, Lunazul Tequila, Birra Moretti, Dogfish Head and Disaronno. The Highest Score went to Miguel Caravayo and his brother, Dr. Don Juan Caravayo; the second-place scorers were Anthony Guaetta and Lori Cooper; Julie Procaccini and Bryan Abenante, both from Bally’s Twin River, won Best Team Uniform; and Paul Zagami was recognized for Best Unique Bocce Throw. Proceeds benefited the Project Broken Wheel Foundation, which refurbishes used bicycles from across Rhode Island and donates them back into the community through a variety of organizations. Over the project’s 11 years, more than 1,200 bicycles were donated to area families and local children’s organizations.
