Brescome Barton added Italian vodka import Altamura, the first vodka produced with 100% wheat, to its offerings. The ancient grains used in Altamura have names such as Appulo, Arcangelo, Duilio, and Simeto and they all must be grown in Altamura or the adjoining communes of Gravina in Puglia, Laterza, Matera, Poggiorsini, Spinazzola, Angomarzio or Minervo Murge. Grown for more than 2,000 years in the Puglia region, the wheat gives the distilled premium spirit unique characteristics for a strong but elegant, intense but smooth flavor. The vodka brands itself as authentically Italian as Pane di Altamura, the only bread in the world protected by a Protected Designation of Origin, creating something “new and uniquely Italian.” The team held a sales meeting on Jan. 5 in support of the statewide launch.
