Brescome Barton Welcomes Milam & Greene Whiskies

By November 27, 2020Connecticut, Top News

Brescome Barton welcomed new Texas-based craft whiskey line Milam & Greene to its Connecticut spirits portfolio. Milam & Greene launched its nationally released expressions on a virtual tasting with media on Oct. 8, which included its Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Single Barrel Bourbon and Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Casks distilled in Blanco, Texas. Milam & Greene Whiskey was created by CEO, Partner and Master Blender Heather Greene, well-known whiskey expert and author; Texas entrepreneur Marsha Milam; Master Distiller Marlene Holmes; and Chief Brewer Jordan Osborne. Hosted by Matt McGinnis of Big Thirst Marketing, Greene welcomed the guests and led the lively tasting, which included the backstory of the brand and road-mapped its multistate production process for each expression. Made with American grains from Texas, Oregon, Wyoming and Washington, Osborne brews the mash for the Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey with a proprietary yeast recipe from Texas and Kentucky; Holmes distills the spirit in a 300-gallon Vendome copper pot still in Blanco; and Greene selects casks of aged whiskeys from Tennessee, Indiana and Kentucky for blending. The release earned a 93-point rating from Wine Enthusiast. Milam & Greene Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Casks is brought from Indiana to Texas, where it is batched in the Blanco rickhouse and finished in old Port wine casks from Portugal. After aging, casks are then batched together and proofed before bottling, which earned the spirit a Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Its Single Barrel Bourbon also features this unique collaborative approach, with no two casks exactly same.
