The Brescome Barton team traveled to the famed bourbon region of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. A first tour and tasting covered the iconic Wild Turkey brand of Kentucky straight bourbon, a division of Campari Group, and the whiskey’s history and craft. The distillery is part of the American Whiskey Trail and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Wild Turkey’s roots trace back to 1855, when Austin Nichols & Co., a wholesale grocer, set up shop in Lawrenceburg, becoming the Wild Turkey Bourbon brand, one of the top-selling whiskey brands in the country. The team then traveled to downtown Louisville to learn about Michter’s American Whiskey. Named after one of the oldest distilleries in the U.S., Michter’s offers a range of award-winning American whiskeys and refill-cask-aged unblended American whiskeys to bourbon whiskeys and ryes. At its American Whiskey Visitor Center and Bar at Fort Nelson, also designated as the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Welcome Center and official starting point for the famed route, the Brescome Barton team took a guided tour and tasting and enjoyed cocktails at its world-class Bar at Fort Nelson.
