The events committee and employees at Connecticut Distributors, Inc. (CDI), raised approximately $600 in cash and collected nonperishable food items for Sterling House Community Center’s Food Pantry in Stratford during its annual food drive efforts. The Sterling House Resource Connection Program is a comprehensive, basic needs assistance program providing a wide range of services to individuals and families, including food, diapers, pet foods, personal care items and social services support. The program started in 1992 as a small food pantry and now is the largest of its kind in Stratford. The annual Food-4-Kids Program also enabled CDI employees to purchase needed food items and donate cash via Venmo, which goes specifically to children in need. CDI also donated $5,500 to the Connecticut Food Bank, a donation annually celebrated with a symbolic “big check” handoff. The presentation was postponed due to COVID-19 safety concerns, while the donation was put to use immediately.
