Champagne Charles Heidsieck has named Elise Losfelt as its new Cellar Master, taking over from Cyril Brun, who has served in the role since 2015. The announcement was made on March 8, International Women’s Day, adding to the ranks of women head winemakers in the region. She comes from a family winemaking tradition of six generations at the Château de l’Engarran in the Languedoc region, with experience that includes harvests at Domaine Mortitx in Majorca, Château Beychevelle in Saint-Julien and in Australia at Domaine Dominique Portet. An agricultural engineer from AgroParisTech with a master’s in wine and vine along with a national diploma in oenology, Losfelt has also worked in Champagne for the past 10 years in various roles at Moët & Chandon, Mercier, Ruinart and Dom Pérignon.
