Maison Bollinger announced it had gained B Corp certification in October, the second Champagne business to gain the accreditation and one of the Champagne brand’s goals in advance of its bicentennial anniversary, which it will celebrate in 2029. Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab “to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.” The certification involves an assessment of the social and environmental impact of each brand through more than 200 questions concerning governance, employees, communities and the environment. Piper-Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck and Rare Champagne, all part of the EPI Group, received B Corp certification in 2022, making the companies the first producers in the region to achieve the benchmark status.
