A charcuterie board creation and wine-pairing class at Surf Club in Newport on Jan. 31 showcased fine wine selections from the portfolio of Johnson Brothers of Rhode Island. Guests selected and assembled their own custom selections of fine meats and cheeses, as well as fruits, nuts and chocolate, while learning which wine varietals and styles pair best to their tastes. Johnson Brothers Sales Consultants Phil Kitchen and Jill Hamilton led participants through a tasting of the wines, which included Martin Codax Albarino, Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc, Talbott Kali Hart Chardonnay, Conti Capponi Villa Calcinaia Piegaia Chianti Classico, J Vineyards Cuvée, Renato Ratti Barbera d’Asti DOC Battaglione, Belposto Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Hugh Hamilton Jim Jim Shiraz and Talbott Kali Hart Pinot Noir. The Surf Club hosts regularly scheduled public events at its Thames Street location centered around wine and food education, as well as private events.
