Rhode Island’s The Cocktail Guru, Jonathan Pogash, celebrated the release of the latest edition of the “Mr. Boston Official Bartender’s Guide,” with a book signing and cocktail party at Bar & Board in Newport on Dec. 4. For the book’s 75th edition, Pogash collaborated with Rick Rodgers, Cookbook Author, Editor and Ghostwriter, to edit and select the guide’s more than 1,500 cocktail recipes. Known as the definitive handbook and reference manual for bartenders since its first printing in 1935, the “Mr. Boston Official Bartender’s Guide” has seen numerous updates and editions; its current version includes 200 new recipes from today’s leading bartenders. Guests sipped cocktails while Pogash shared some of his favorite drink recipes and signed copies. During the event, donations of nonperishable food items and unwrapped toys were collected to benefit The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, which supports individuals in need throughout Newport County.
