A United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) Fernet-Branca coin design competition and art show was hosted at New Haven’s Elm City Social on July 11. Local bartenders displayed their artwork for the chance to have their designs featured on the reverse side of Connecticut’s 2019 Fernet-Branca coin. Guests enjoyed alligator-themed small bites created by Chef John Brennan and his kitchen team alongside specialty cocktails featuring Fernet-Branca. Used by the USBG member community, the coins are a Guild play on the military tradition of coins representing missions, which were then used in Officers’ Clubs for rounds of drinks. The USBG coins are used with other chapter members of the Guild to recognize state and national membership.
