Figures released by the Fédération des Exportateurs de Vins et Spiritueux de France (FEVS) showed that French wine export sales, including Champagne and Cognac, reached a record high of €15.5 billion (approximately $17.4 billion), with exports to China growing by 56% last year. This is a 28% year-over-year increase, but also an 11% increase in 2019, showing a strong rebound across all countries. The U.S. is the largest export destination of French wine and spirits, accounting for more than a quarter of the total sales of French wine exports. In 2021, total French wine and spirits exports to the U.S. increased by 34% to €4.1 billion ($4.5 billion), with the suspension of U.S. taxes on French wine from March 2021 a leading factor in that growth.
