Monsieur Touton Selection showcased fine French imports at a socially distanced lunch at the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan on Nov. 19. Volage Crémant de Loire Rosé Brut Sauvage and Chateau Phélan Ségur wines were paired with creative cuisine as participants enjoyed education from Volage Owner and Winemaker François-Xavier Chaillou and the Monsieur Touton team. NV Volage Rosé Brut Sauvage, a 12% ABV Crémant de Loire, is made from single-vineyard Cabernet Franc grapes and aged for a full three years on lees, resulting in a complex flavor. Frank Phélan 2016 Saint-Estèphe bears the name of the son of Bernard Phélan, founder of the estate winery. A red wine, Frank Phélan is a Bordeaux blend at 13.5% ABV, offering indulgent fruit and an intense and compelling nose and palate, with an elegant structure of silky tannins in its 2016 vintage.
