Local restaurant and bar industry professionals and guests gathered for a fundraising event at Birch Hill Tavern in Glastonbury on Jan. 9. In support of Women of the Bevolution, a national social enterprise dedicated to providing resources and opportunities to women and nonbinary people working in the beverage industry and to give a voice to those who are underrepresented in the industry, the event was led by MeKayla Roy, Bar Manager, Union Kitchen; Katie Gingras; and Anthony DeVito. Industry members donated items for the fundraising raffle, including Ruvin Bogati, Sales Representative, Connecticut Distributors, Inc., and General Manager, Fork & Fire, representing Hendrick’s Gin; Khalid Williams, The Barrel Age, in attendance to represent Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey; and Jessica McClure on behalf of Misguided Spirits. The event raised more than $3,700 for the organization through donations, tips, a raffle and 20% of the night’s sales donated by Birch Hill Tavern Owners Jessica Cote and Bob Nicholson.
