Westerly’s Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island kicked off its fifth year of partnering with Brewing Funds the Cure to support the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation with the release of Rising Hope Hazy Peach IPA. The beer release party on Sept. 1 began Grey Sail’s month-long efforts, where 100% of the proceeds from Rising Hope sales are donated to the foundation. In addition to the release of the IPA, Grey Sail also supported additional charitable events at its brewery and taproom: the Fill the Truck Toy Drive, collecting approved toys for Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and a Bald Is Beautiful Haircut Event, where stylists from Bella Vita Salon were on hand to help donate locks or shave for Pediatric Cancer Awareness, with all donations sent to Wigs 4 Kids. In the first two years of the release of Rising Hope, craft brewing partners across the country have raised more than $500,000 for pediatric cancer research. Founded in 2011 by Jennifer and Alan Brinton, Grey Sail Brewing is Rhode Island’s southernmost brewery, located in the converted 1920s-era Westerly Macaroni Factory.
