Westerly’s Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island announced a new offering for summer. First, its flagship Captain’s Daughter Double Imperial IPA is now available in its biggest size yet: a 19.2-ounce can. Brewed with high-quality pilsner malt and flaked oats, the beer is light in color yet aggressively hopped with Mosaics out of the Pacific Northwest, offering a strong aroma and flavor of tropical and stone fruits, at 8.5% ABV and 69 IBU. Secondly, Grey Sail’s sister company, South County Distillers, makers of handcrafted spirits from grain to glass, released new ready-to-drink canned cocktails in four flavors: Paloma, 7% ABV; Mojito, 8.1% ABV; Rhode Island Ranch Water, 5% ABV; and Vodka Lemonade, 9% ABV, per 355 ml, ready to chill and serve. Opened by Jennifer and Alan Brinton in the converted 1920s-era Westerly Macaroni Factory, the brewery began operations on Nov. 11, 2011. Grey Sail offers more than 10 core and flagship brews, along with a variety of seasonal offerings. Both Grey Sail Brewing and South County Distillers are distributed in Rhode Island via McLaughlin & Moran.
