Colorful Hungarian immigrant “Count” Agoston Haraszthy—considered the Father of the California Wine Industry—introduced European wine grape varieties to the state. Winemaker Val Haraszthy, a sixth-generation descendant, has now released his first rosé. Haraszthy Family Cellars 2017 Bearitage “Lodi Gypsy Rosé,” made from 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Zinfandel, is fruity yet delicate thanks to minimal skin contact; it pairs well with pork loin roast, lamb, salmon and shellfish dishes. Marketed by Bronco Wine Co.
