Brescome Barton, in collaboration with HB Wine Merchants, hosted a visit with representatives from Italian wineries Renzo Masi and Fattoria di Basciano at Max Downtown in Hartford on May 9. Renzo Masi and Fattoria di Basciano’s Paolo Masi, Owner/Winemaker, and Anna Rita Masi, Owner/Export Manager, were in attendance to give guests an education on both wineries. Brescome Barton sales team members enjoyed a lunch prepared by the culinary team at Max Downtown paired with selections from each winery, including Fattoria di Basciano Chianti Rufina 2021, Renzo Masi Chianti Riserva 2020, Fattoria di Basciano Chianti Rufina Riserva 2015 and Fattoria di Basciano I Pini. For more than 250 years, the Masi winery has produced wines from the vineyards of Vajo dei Masi, a valley in the center of Valpolicella Classico. Run by the seventh and eighth generations of the Boscaini family, the winery is known for its production of Amarone and its use of the ancient Appassimento winemaking technique to dry its grapes, contributing more character and flavor to its wines.
