Horizon Beverage Co. of Rhode Island hosted a blind tasting competition and test of wine knowledge for trade guests prior to its Wine Expo at the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick on April 13. Led by Sid Lakhkar, Fine Wine Specialist, Horizon Beverage Co., approximately 35 trade participants made up of guests from accounts, sommeliers and wine connoisseurs were challenged to a blind tasting of six wines—three whites and three reds—with a 30-minute time limit to report their guesses using Wine & Spirit Education Trust criteria. The top eight contestants received a wine education trip to Italy, where they will visit wineries in Piedmont, Tuscany and Veneto in late winter 2024.
