Durk’s Bar-B-Q in Providence hosted a service industry night for area trade professionals on Sept. 5 as part of an ongoing series held the first Sunday of every month. The evening’s event was sponsored by Industrious Spirits Co. (ISCO), where guests enjoyed a special cocktail menu and complimentary small bites made by the Durk’s team, along with brand education. Offering handcrafted, sustainably sourced spirits, ISCO is the first distillery in Providence since Prohibition, making its award-winning vodka and gin uniquely handcrafted on the site of a former industrial mill complex just a mile from downtown. ISCO Structural Vodka is made with regionally grown, organic, non-GMO corn, milled to their specifications and distilled in small batches, which are combined for a further round of distillation, then charcoal-filtered at least 20 times for a clean, crisp taste experience. ISCO Ornamental Gin was named in homage to the ornamental steel that was made on the distillery’s site. The gin is made from scratch using a base of 100% non-GMO organic corn, flavored with juniper and a special mix of 15 additional botanicals on top, including elderflowers, passionflower, lots of citrus and hops. After a slow and careful distillation, the liquid is left to rest for a month to let the flavors meld. Slowly proofed down to 40% ABV over a period of weeks, the gin is gently filtered before bottling. The ISCO line is available through Horizon Beverage Co. – Copley division.
