New Milford’s NeJaime’s Wine & Spirits and Southington’s Worldwide Wine & Spirits collaborated with Litchfield Distillery and the Connecticut Bourbon Bastards to raise funds for veterans during the holiday season. Starting on Nov. 28, also known as Giving Tuesday, 150 bottles from a single barrel of Litchfield Distillery Batchers’ Straight Bourbon Whiskey were released, with 100% of proceeds raised benefiting Building Homes for Heroes, a New York-based nonprofit working to provide homes to veterans free of charge, along with other programs and support services. John NeJaime, Owner, NeJaime’s Wine & Spirits, spearheaded the initiative, in partnership with Taylor Deegan, General Manager, Worldwide Wine & Spirits. Members of the Connecticut Bourbon Bastards bourbon club helped organize the special barrel tasting event led by Co-owner Jack Baker at the distillery on Oct. 21, which was attended by 36 people. Dino Kolitsas, Managing Partner, Greca Mediterranean Kitchen + Bar, provided food for the event and led guests through a cocktail-making class during the distillery visit.
