Brescome Barton celebrated Halloween with a dealer’s choice-style cocktail competition at Hartford’s The Half Door on Oct. 31. Twelve costumed local bartenders from area restaurants and bars created original cocktails for judges, each set to feature Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Bourbon Whiskey and Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Straight Rye Whiskey as choice base spirits. A twist in the mix saw competitors choosing additional ingredients from a hidden table, unveiled just five minutes prior to the competition’s start. After a second tie-breaker round, the winning bartenders were named, with first place taken by Clarissa Lonero. In second place was Brayden Costa and in third place was Andrew Martins. Distributed across Connecticut by Brescome Barton, Kentucky Owl’s The Wiseman Bourbon Whiskey, a blend of four Kentucky Straight bourbons, and The Wiseman Straight Rye Whiskey, with a 95% rye mash bill and, aged for at least four years, are made in collaboration with the Bardstown Bourbon Company under the direction of Master Blender John Rhea.
