The Marlborough Tavern – in collaboration with Brescome Barton and Two Roads Brewing Company – hosted a pre-Valentine’s Day dinner pairing event, Beer v. Wine, on February 12. Each plate of the three-course meal was paired with a showcased beer and wine selection, with an informal vote among guests to pick their favorite pairing combination for each dish. Selections included a course of one duo of beer, Two Roads Passion Fruit Gose, and wine, Erath Pinot Blanc; second course beer, Two Roads Two Juicy New England Style IPA, and wine, Chapoutier Belleruche Rouge (Côtes du Rhône); and dessert course beer, Two Roads Two Die For Raspberry Chocolate Stout, and wine, Banfi Rosa Regale Brachetto. The result: a tie between beer and wine.

The Marlborough Tavern’s Beer v. Wine first course – bruschetta with whipped ricotta, fig jam and prosciutto – was paired with Two Roads Passion Fruit Gose and Erath Pinot Blanc.

Dessert was a chocolate trio of a chocolate torte with raspberry whipped cream, chocolate truffle and a dark chocolate-covered strawberry paired with Two Roads Two Die For Raspberry Chocolate Stout and Banfi Rosa Regale Brachetto.
