The annual World Class bartending competition saw Jacob Martin from Canada announced as the cocktail program’s 2023 Global Bartender of the Year. Over the past year, World Class sponsored by Diageo has challenged more than 10,000 elite mixologists across the globe to put their skills to the test in search of the world’s best bartender. The top bartenders from 55 countries descended on São Paulo to participate in the World Class Global Finals, featuring a series of challenges designed to test their cocktail prowess, knowledge and creativity. Martin prevailed over four days of intense bartending challenges by creating classic cocktails with Tanqueray No. Ten, Johnnie Walker Black and Ketel One Vodka. His original Garnished With Good cocktail both impressed the judges with its flavor creativity and also delivered a positive impact within the local community in Canada. Now in its 15th season, World Class sponsored by Diageo partners with the United States Bartenders’ Guild. The program has trained and included more than 400,000 bartenders around the world throughout its existence.
