Millpond Gatherings’ Restaurant and Bar Manager Cory Saccu creates the Rustic Orchard.
Millpond Gatherings
1565 Middletown Avenue
Northford, CT
Millpond Gatherings is a destination venue located on a scenic historic farm expanse in the village of Northford and is comprised of five properties, including the Steakhouse, a fine dining experience with cuisine by Executive Chef Pedro Avila; the Tavern, serving elevated pub food with beer, wine and cocktails; and the Venue, an elegant space for large events. With its forthcoming Market and Inn, Millpond Gatherings will offer guests a rustic yet elevated ambience among them all. Fine wine, beer and inventive craft cocktails are available throughout each of the venues, overseen by Restaurant and Bar Manager Cory Saccu. “My goal is to create an eclectic craft cocktail program while making the drinks easy to prepare at times of high volume at our 300-plus seat facility,” Saccu said. “While doing so, I look to use spirits and flavor combinations that are not only unique but match the ambience of our multifaceted Gatherings.” Using this philosophy, Saccu created this month’s featured cocktail, the Rustic Orchard.

The Rustic Orchard at Millpond Gatherings.
The Rustic Orchard cocktail can be enjoyed during every season at Millpond Gatherings. “The Bumbu Rum and Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot Liqueur complement each other wonderfully, and the addition of fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and cranberry create a cocktail that is robust enough to be enjoyed by our fire, yet sweet enough to be enjoyed on our patio by the river,” Restaurant and Bar Manager Cory Saccu said. “Millpond is set in a rural area surrounded by farms and forests, so the name is a nod to not only the ingredients but to our Steakhouse and Tavern, which are furnished with various types of beautifully crafted woods from all over the Northeast.”
