Author, whiskey expert and master blender F. Paul Pacult made a special guest appearance at a whiskey-pairing dinner featuring Jacob’s Pardon Single Barrel American Whiskey in New Haven on Oct. 11. High George by Siena hosted the event, in collaboration with Worldwide Wines, Palm Bay International and CT Bourbon Bastards. Pacult led guests through a tasting of Jacob’s Pardon Single Barrel American Whiskey, a small-batch No. 3 limited-production 18-year-old whiskey. Guests enjoyed cocktails featuring Jacob’s Pardon paired with food prepared by Siena’s Chef Foster Lukas and his culinary team. Founded by Marc Taub, President and CEO of Taub Family Cos., and his son Jake, Jacob’s Pardon Small Batch American Whiskey pays homage to the Taub’s ancestors who were criminally charged as bootleggers during Prohibition, then later pardoned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The whiskey is made in Kentucky, under the craftmanship of Pacult. Jacob’s Pardon is distributed in the state by Worldwide Wines. Pacult, who co-founded the Spirit Journal in 1991, also showcased his latest publication, “The New Kindred Spirits,” which serves as a reference guide of more than 2,000 whiskeys, brandies, vodkas, tequilas, rums, gins and liqueurs.
