
The 2022 Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival continued on Sept. 17 to offer a day of seminars and tasting events showcased at Rosecliff on Bellevue Avenue. The festival’s second day of educational talks covered a variety of topics and brands, including Foley Food & Wine Society’s Tale of Two Terroirs, History and Heritage of Mount Gay Rum and What’s Trending in Italy from Kobrand. Brand representatives and special guest presenters from around the world educated guests during the sold-out sessions. Along with the weekend of tastings, area restaurants provided unique dining experiences for visitors, including The Dining Room at The Vanderbilt, Beech Restaurant in Jamestown, Hotel Viking’s Garden Room, The Coast Guard House in Narragansett, Giusto at Hammetts Hotel, Midtown Oyster Bar and 22 Bowen’s.
- Tale of Two Terroirs from the Foley Food & Wine Society showcased its California wines from two vineyards: Ferrari-Carano and Silverado.
- Susan M. Piacenti, Advancement Officer, The Preservation Society of Newport County welcomes participants.
- Presenter Sarah Quider, Vice President of Winemaking, Foley Family Wines with Pamela Ford, Vice President, Sales, U.S./Export, Silverado Vineyards.
- Foley’s holdings include about two dozen wineries in Napa and Sonoma counties, California Central Coast, Washington, Oregon and New Zealand. Guests of Rosecliff tasted through California selections.
- For Mount Gay Rum, Rémy Cointreau’s Giancarlo Cowan, Director of Sales New England; Darrio Prescod, National Brand Ambassador for Crafted Spirits; and Michael Loudon, Market Manager Connecticut and Rhode Island.
- Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Black Barrel and XO Triple Cask Blend were showcased for seminar participants by Rémy Cointreau’s brand team.
- Guests learned about Mount Gay Rum, blending and aging its iconic rums since 1703, now under the direction of the brand’s first female master blender, Trudiann Branker.
