Taproot Brewing Co. and Newport Vineyards in Middletown celebrated the on-site brewery’s anniversary with a Cheers to Five Years during its Wednesday Music Series kickoff on June 21. Taproot releases weekly brews and has a dozen options on draft and cans to-go. The event featured live music by Blue Light Bandit’s party band, Cold Wayne, wine and beer tasting specials, dining options from the on-site culinary team and samples of a special release with Brewer Kevin Beachem. Newport Vineyards is situated on preserved farmland that has been in the Nunes family for more than 100 years. Taproot Brewing Co. was established in June 2018 and is equipped with a state-of-the-art seven-barrel brewhouse, located inside Newport Vineyards, and the team grows its own 14 varieties of hops.
