Ten Rhode Island wholesalers participated in the private wine tasting event, Stock Your Cellar, at Watch Hill’s Ocean House on June 26. Orchestrated while keeping COVID-19-era physical-distancing protocols in place, sales representatives and Ocean House staff wore masks and poured tastes for guests from spaced-out locations in the venue’s Seaside Ballroom. Only a certain number of guests were allowed in at a time with centrally located hand-sanitizing stations. The sold-out tasting was spearheaded in cooperation with The Wine Store in Westerly. “It was nice to get back out there and share some beautiful wines with my colleagues in a safe environment,” said Shawna Dietz, Premium Portfolio Manager, Johnson Bros. of Rhode Island. “The consumers were delighted to be out and were all using precautions, wearing masks when not tasting wine.” Wholesaler tables included selections from Mancini Beverage, MS Walker, Wine Wizards and Horizon Beverage Co. among them.
