Pawtucket’s Rhode Island Spirits was featured during Newport Out’s Pride After Dark event at Parlor Newport on July 31. In celebration of Newport Pride 2021, guests enjoyed a drag show by dance troupe, the Trailer Park Girls, along with craft cocktails by Rhode Island Spirits, including RI Spirits’ signature event cocktail, Grapefruit Sunrise, which featured Rhodium Vodka, Rhodium Limoncello, grapefruit juice and a dash of Peychaud’s Bitters, served over ice with a splash of grenadine. Kara Larson and Cathy Plourde, co-owners of RI Spirits and spouses, launched the Rhodium spirits line in 2019, noted as New England’s only LGBTQ-owned spirits brand. Located in Pawtucket, the team operates its distillery and tasting room for its carefully crafted line of vodka, flavored vodkas, gins and liqueurs. As the summer wrapped up, RI Spirits received more accolades, including two silver medals from the American Distilling Institute for Rhodium Forager’s Gin in August, along with a silver medal from the American Craft Distilling Association for Rhodium Forager’s Gin. Its Rhodium Vodka also earned a bronze medal from the American Craft Distilling Association. Distributed by Horizon Beverage Co. of Rhode Island.
