
Rhode Island Spirits, makers of the award-winning Rhodium spirits line of locally made gins, vodkas and liqueurs, said goodbye to summer at its Pawtucket distillery and tasting room on Sept. 7. The aptly titled End of Summer Celebration featured tropical cocktails and the photo-op ready Mermaid Margaux Morisseau, who festively posed with event visitors. Chilled oysters from Ocean State Oyster, lobster rolls and more were available to guests. Cocktails showcased were the Margarita Simpson, made with Rhodium Citron Vodka, lime juice, blue curaçao syrup and orange bitters; Cocoa Beach, made with Rhodium Coffee & Black Walnut Vodka, coconut cream and chocolate bitters featuring a cocoa sugar rim; Salty Dog, made with Rhodium Gin and grapefruit juice featuring a salted rim; Plum Colada made with Rhodium Plum Gin, pineapple juice and coconut cream; and Caribbean Sunrise, made with Rhodium Vodka, lime juice, pineapple juice and grenadine. Founded by owners Cathy Plourde and Kara Larson, the company is New England’s only LGBT-owned spirits brand. RI Spirits are crafted from local fresh, farmed and foraged ingredients and are gluten-free, organic, non-GMO and vegan, with all in the lineup but one certified kosher by RI Kosher. Rhodium Grapefruitcello, Limoncello, RI Red Vodka, Coffee & Black Walnut Vodka, Citron Vodka and Forager’s Gin are among its brands, all distributed in the state by Horizon Beverage Co. of Rhode Island – Copley division.
