Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) partnered with Newport Vineyards for a professional development with ProStart educators on May 30. The opportunity for its participating ProStart high school teachers included a greenhouse tour, vineyard tour, James Beard nominee and Newport Vineyard’s Chef Andy Texeira demonstrating his award-winning food preparation techniques and seeing Master Butcher and Chef Paul Servideo at work. The team also learned about winemaking and the vineyard processes, as well as seeing its barrel room and bottling processes. From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart’s industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation.
