

Korean Modern Spirits (KMS), which was founded in 2020, is considered the first-of-its-kind premium portfolio devoted to products from within Korea’s ancient brewing and distilling traditions.
Slocum & Sons welcomed several new small breweries and distilleries from South Korea represented by New York City-based Master Sommelier Kyungmoon Kim whose company, Korean Modern Spirits (KMS), was created to bring new sool imports to the U.S. Sool is a Korean word to encompass the many variations of the country’s alcoholic beverages, many distilled from rice, from soju to makgeolli to fruit wines. New to the Connecticut market are Yangchon Chungju Rice Wine, 14% ABV; Gamsa Blue Chungju, 14% ABV by Sulseam; Red Monkey Mir, 8% ABV by Sulseam; Mir Soju, 40% and 22% ABV by Sulseam; Damsoul Pine Soju, 40% ABV by Solsongju; Seoul Night Soju, 23% ABV by The Han; Pungjeong Sagye Winter Soju by Hwayang Company, 42% and 23% ABV; and Won Mae Plum Liqueur, 13% ABV by The Han.
