Two Roads Brewing Company of Stratford, CT announced the return of Via Cordis, Latin for “road of the heart.” Via Cordis is a Belgian-style Single Abbey Ale and it honors the centuries-old link between religious abbeys and beer. The Via Cordis recipe was created collaboratively between Two Roads’ Brewmaster Phil Markowski and Sacred Heart University biology professors Geffrey Stopper and Kirk Bartholomew. The authentic Trappist yeast sourced from a brewery in Belgium “contributes a fruity/spicy complexity and highly refined Hallertau hops add a floral, herbaceous quality.” The beer went on sale in July at the Two Roads Tasting Room, with a limited amount of 22 oz. bottles and draft to hit the market mid-July. A portion of the proceeds will go towards scholarships for Sacred Heart students.
