Whisky expressions from Virginia Distillery Co. were showcased during a tasting and education session at District Cowork in New Haven on Jan. 19. Led by Virginia Distillery’s Northeast Market Manager Erica Kraypohl, guests tasted six select whiskies from the distillery’s portfolio: Courage & Conviction Flagship American Single Malt Whisky, Courage & Conviction Bourbon Cask, Courage & Conviction Sherry Cask, Courage & Conviction Cuvée Cask, VHW Port Cask Finished Whisky and VHW Cider Cask Finished Whisky. Located on 100 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Nelson County, Virginia Distillery Co. is an American Single Malt whisky distillery. Using the highest quality malted barley and fresh spring water, the team leverages Virginia’s climate, allowing the broad temperature shifts to add depth to its whiskies. Hand-hammered copper pot stills crafted in Scotland are used to distill the spirits using time-honored techniques, drafting distinctly American whiskies, while aging in exceptional casks adds intensity and complexity to each expression produced.
