
Waypoint Spirits hosted a mixology class at its distillery in Bloomfield on Sept. 9. Open to the public, the event was led by Taproom Manager Jason Carson. Cocktail enthusiasts learned how to make libations featuring Waypoint Spirits Rum. Participants were also treated to a tour of the distillery and took home a bottle of Waypoint Spirits Rum and bar tools. Founded in 2015, Waypoint Spirits opened under new ownership in 2021: Co-owners Debbie Licho, Tony Tine and Joe Tine. Its tasting room and distillery hosts visitors for tours and special events, while featuring its spirits in an extensive cocktail list, including a Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary menu. The Connecticut-made Waypoint Gin, Waypoint Vodka, Waypoint Rum and canned cocktails are distributed in the state by Allan S. Goodman.

The small-batch, 100% natural aged molasses-based rum starts off with a fermentation that brings out rich, tropical fruit notes. It is then distilled twice through pot stills followed by oak barreling, for notes of vanilla and caramel.
