
The Wonder of the Cocktail multiday event continued on June 20 with an afternoon of mixology seminars, followed by a private chef dine around event in the evening, which paired cocktails with cuisine prepared by some of Connecticut’s top chefs. The seminars began with The Art of Blending: An Exploration of Diplomático Rum’s Unique Distillation Methods, at Cedars Steakhouse & Oyster Bar. Led by Manny Peña and Nelson Hernandez of Diplomático Rum, guests were led through a tasting of the Diplomático Rum line. An Agave Lab took place next in Vue 24 led by Jorge Raptis, National Educator of Latin Spirits, Diageo Reserve. Guests were led through a tasting of Don Julio Tequila in Blanco, Reposado and Añejo expressions, Don Julio 1942 Tequila, Don Julio 70 Añejo Claro Tequila and Don Julio Real Tequila. The third seminar featured an informational talk and tasting of Westland Single Malt Whiskey in American Oak, Sherry Wood and Peated expressions led by Jason Cousins, Brand Ambassador, Westland Whiskey. The educational portion of the afternoon wrapped up with a tasting and education session led by Rasmus Just, National Scotch Educator, Diageo Reserve, featuring Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch Whiskey 18 Year, Johnnie Walker Green Label Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey, Port Dundas Single Grain Scotch Whiskey, Cardhu Single Malt Scotch Whiskey and Caol Ila Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.
